To ensure a safe and pleasant travel experience for visitors in the country’s most popular beach destination, the Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region has issued a set of essential safety instructions for all tourists.

“We place the highest priority on the safety of both local and foreign tourists. Everyone should remain aware and cautious for a hassle-free travel experience,” said Additional DIG of Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region, Apple Mahmud.

The Tourist Police urged all visitors to follow these key safety guidelines during their stay in Cox’s Bazar:

  1. After getting off the bus, confirm your destination and agree on the fare before boarding an auto-rickshaw or vehicle.
  2. Pre-book your hotel whenever possible, or verify the hotel and negotiate the rent before checking in.
  3. Keep your national ID card or birth certificate with you while checking into hotels.
  4. Leave your valuables in the hotel room before heading to the beach.
  5. Avoid taking massages from unauthorized “massage boys.” Contact the Tourist Police if necessary.
  6. Inform the Tourist Police if you are disturbed by beggars or members of the third gender.
  7. Refrain from buying products from unauthorized vendors on the beach.
  8. Negotiate the price with photographers in advance and verify their identity.
  9. Pay only the approved rates for beach bikes and water bikes.
  10. Swim only in areas supervised by lifeguards.
  11. Seek assistance from the Tourist Police in case of any harassment.
  12. Check food price lists before ordering at restaurants.
  13. Avoid eating unhygienic or street food that is exposed to the elements.
  14. Do not go to dark or isolated areas, including the Jhau forest, after sunset.
