Despite the local cautionary signal No. 3 issued due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, hundreds of tourists thronged the Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Tuesday, braving rain and gusty winds to enjoy the sight of the roaring waves.
The sea has become unusually rough, with waves rising higher than usual and wind speeds increasing noticeably.
Yet, the enthusiasm of visitors shows no sign of fading. From early morning, large crowds were seen at Laboni, Sugandha, and Kolatoli Points, capturing photos and videos of the stormy sea on their mobile phones. Some even ventured into the water despite the hazardous conditions.
Lifeguard teams remained on high alert, continuously monitoring the beach and using loudspeakers to warn visitors of potential dangers.
“During signal No. 3, swimming in the sea is strictly prohibited,” said an on-duty lifeguard. “We are flying red flags and urging tourists to stay at a safe distance from the water.”
The Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office has forecast heavy rainfall in the district under the influence of the low-pressure area over the Bay.
Authorities have urged all visitors to remain cautious and prioritize safety while enjoying the scenic, yet turbulent, beauty of Cox’s Bazar during this weather.
