Cox’s Bazar celebrated International Volunteer Day collectively for the first time, bringing together at least 20 volunteer organizations from various upazilas of the district. The event kicked off Thursday morning at the Laboni Point open stage with a ceremonial release of balloons and festoons.
Al Asad Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Superintendent of Police for Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police Region, inaugurated the program.
Highlighting the importance of volunteerism, he stated, “Volunteers play a pivotal role in community building and neighborhood development. The significance of volunteerism is immense on a global scale.”
The event was presided over by Mozahid Ali, admin of the Cox’s Bazar Blood Donors Society. Other notable speakers included Mohammad Elias Mia, President of CEHRDF, and journalist Abdur Rashid Manik.
Following the speeches, a rally commenced from Laboni Point and traversed the town streets. The day concluded with a beach cleanup campaign and a heartwarming gesture of welcoming tourists to Cox’s Bazar with flowers, promoting environmental awareness and hospitality.
