About 83% of the construction work for the new runway at Cox’s Bazar Airport has been completed. In comparison, approximately 93% of the work on the new terminal building is also been finished so far, said Air Vice Marshal Md. Manjurul Kabir Bhuiyan, the newly appointed chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
He also stated that out of the 10,700 feet of the runway, 9,000 feet are ready, and an additional 1,700 feet have been laid. Upon completion, it will be the longest runway in Bangladesh.
The CAAB Chairman spoke to the media on Friday afternoon while visiting the development work at Cox’s Bazar Airport.
Regarding the terminal, he mentioned that the passenger terminal currently being constructed will serve as a domestic terminal in the future.
“The oyster-like structure on top and some interior work remains to be done. We will construct another modern passenger terminal to make it an international airport,” he added, noting that they will also demolish the current tower building.
