Cox’s Bazar is experiencing an intense heatwave, with scorching temperatures making daily life increasingly difficult.
The ongoing extreme heat has left the local population weary, as many are reluctant to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
The hardest hit are the laborers who are struggling to work in such harsh conditions.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Department, last Saturday, the temperature reached a high of 38°C, with forecasts suggesting that it may rise even further. On average, daily temperatures are recorded between 34°C and 36°C during this period. This rise in temperature is typical for this time of year, as noted by the weather department.
Health experts are raising concerns as the heatwave has led to a surge in illnesses like diarrhea, fever, cold, and cough. Children, in particular, are facing the brunt of the heat, with many falling ill due to diarrhea and respiratory infections.
