For the first time ever, the scenic beach town of Cox’s Bazar played host to the Boishakhi Triathlon 2025, a vibrant celebration of fitness and festivity held under the spirited motto: “Swim, Ride, Run – Boishakhi Fun!”
Held on Saturday (May 10) under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army’s 10th Infantry Division and with support from the Cox’s Bazar District Administration, the triathlon brought together a wave of energetic athletes from across the country. The race began at Reju Khal and stretched through Baywatch Point, the Lal Kakra Beach, and Patuartek, transforming the coastline into a festive arena of endurance and courage.
The event’s core objective was to promote physical and mental wellness, build confidence and resilience, and foster tourism in the region. Participants—swimmers, cyclists, and runners from across Bangladesh and one international athlete—competed with determination, overcoming both physical and psychological barriers.
At the end of the event, Major General Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, GOC of the 10th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Cox’s Bazar, presented awards to the winners in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.
The Boishakhi Triathlon 2025 featured two competition categories and drew 198 participants — 196 men and 2 women in the professional group, Md. Shamsuzzaman and Ferdousi Akter Maria claimed the top spots among men and women respectively in the amateur category, Md. Mahiuddin emerged as the top male winner. The top 10 performers in each category received commemorative crests, while all finishers were awarded medals and e-certificates.
The event has added a new dimension to Cox’s Bazar’s growing reputation as a tourism hub and inspired public interest in fitness and mental well-being. Locals and tourists warmly received the initiative, praising the Bangladesh Army and district administration for hosting such a dynamic and meaningful event.
