A festive atmosphere has taken hold at the only Eid cattle market organized by Cox’s Bazar municipality. Located at Kasturaghat on Thana Road, the market officially opened on Tuesday afternoon and has been abuzz with activity ever since.
Strict security measures have been implemented at the market to facilitate the buying and selling of cattle and other sacrificial animals.
Authorities are hopeful that this market will enable farmers and small-scale cattle raisers to sell their cows, buffaloes, and goats at fair prices, while also allowing buyers to find the perfect animal for their Eid sacrifice.
Since the market’s opening, sellers have been bringing their livestock to the site. A visit to the market revealed a steady stream of enthusiastic buyers as well.
Meanwhile, the local administration has deployed over a hundred volunteers to assist with security, counterfeit money detection, animal transportation, water supply, and a range of other services to support both buyers and sellers.
