A school-based book reading initiative and book distribution program has been launched in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar, through a joint effort of the National Library Centre and Rajakhali Air Ali Khan Adarsha High School. The event took place on Sunday at 11:30am in the school’s auditorium.

The program was chaired by the school’s head teacher, Md. Jahed Ullah, while Mohammad Enamul Haque, Assistant Director of the National Library Centre, attended as the chief guest.

Special guests included the school’s assistant head teacher Ziabur Karim, assistant teacher Maulana Faridul Mostafa Siraji, Chattogram Judge Court advocate Asad Ullah, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer and president of the Rajakhali Open Library Md. Jahed, general secretary of the Pekua Upazila Press Club M. Didarul Karim, and Suprabhat newspaper’s Pekua correspondent S.M. Zubaid, among others.

Speaking at the event, chief guest Mohammad Enamul Haque said, “Books are an important part of our lives. Every student should read not only textbooks but also works by various poets and authors. This helps broaden their understanding beyond the classroom.”

At the end of the ceremony, each student received a copy of noted author Humayun Azad’s “Fuler Gondhe Ghum Asena” (“The Scent of Flowers Keeps Me Awake”). Students from different classes of Rajakhali Air Ali Khan Adarsha High School were present at the program.
