To ensure law and order during New Year’s Eve celebrations, Cox’s Bazar district police have announced seven specific restrictions. The police have urged everyone to comply with the rules for a safe and peaceful observance.
The announcement was made on Tuesday (December 30) at 6:30 pm by Additional Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Media Focal Point Alok Biswas through an official press release.
The release states that Cox’s Bazar city and beach areas will strictly prohibit fireworks, firecrackers, and sky lanterns. To prevent accidents, sales and marketing of fireworks and firecrackers have also been banned.
No open-air concerts, dance shows, or musical programs will be allowed in public spaces or on streets. All bars and liquor shops across the district will remain closed from 6 pm on December 31 to 6 pm on January 1.
Social media users have been warned not to spread rumors, propaganda, or provocative messages that could disrupt communal harmony or negatively affect law and order.
Additional restrictions include honking vehicles at high volume, reckless driving of cars or motorcycles, and performing “joy rides” or racing.
Moreover, female tourists visiting for New Year’s Eve must not be subjected to any form of harassment or eve-teasing.
Hotels and motels have been instructed to share information about indoor events and report any suspicious visitors to the DSP.
The district police have explicitly stated that they will take legal action against anyone who violates these restrictions.
