As another year draws to a close—having witnessed Bangladesh’s many events, achievements, and debates—an emotional scene unfolds at Cox’s Bazar beach in the final hours of the day. With the setting sun, the sky turns shades of red and orange, waves roll in steady rhythm, and a soft winter breeze fills the air, as nature seems to bid farewell to the passing year in silent grace.
Thousands of domestic and foreign tourists gather along the shore to witness the year’s final sunset.
Families, friends, and loved ones are seen capturing the moment through photographs and videos, eager to preserve the memory of this symbolic transition.
Rashed Mahmud, a tourist from Dhaka, shared his feelings. The year has been filled with constant pressure and busyness.
“Observing the final sunset of the year from Cox’s Bazar evokes a sense of the waves washing away all the fatigue and disappointments. I look forward to brighter days in the upcoming year,” he added.
Nusrat Jahan, a university student visiting from Chattogram, reflected on the moment:
“So much has happened over the years—both good and bad.
Standing here and watching the final sunset feels like the closing of a chapter. I sincerely hope the new year will be more beautiful and peaceful.”
For many visitors, the final sunset of the year is more than just a natural spectacle.
It represents reflection, cherished memories, and renewed hope. On the last evening of the year, Cox’s Bazar beach once again becomes a meeting point of farewell emotions and dreams for the year ahead.
