National Security Adviser and the High Representative on Rohingya Issues and Priority Affairs, Dr Khalilur Rahman, visited Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar on Monday (19 January).
During the visit, Dr Rahman attended a match of a Rohingya football tournament, organised to promote youth engagement, social cohesion, and positive community interaction within the camps.
Addressing the gathering, he delivered an encouraging, hopeful speech, highlighting the importance of unity, discipline, and peaceful coexistence within the Rohingya community.
He urged young people to channel their energy into constructive activities, particularly sports, to foster resilience and social harmony.
Dr Rahman also reiterated his optimism regarding the peaceful and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya people, stressing the need for sustained dialogue and continued international cooperation to resolve the crisis.
According to the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner, camp residents and other stakeholders warmly welcomed the visit and the exchange of views, viewing it as a reflection of the Bangladesh government’s continued commitment at the highest level to the welfare, stability, and prospects of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals.
