A dengue prevention campaign has been launched in Ukhiya with an awareness rally aimed at encouraging people to keep their surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding.

The campaign was formally inaugurated at the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex under the slogan, “Keep your surroundings clean, stay dengue-free.”

An awareness rally was also organised on the occasion, where the Upazila Health and family planning officer Dr Eheshan Ullah Sikdar, attended as the chief guest.

Speakers at the programme said there is no alternative to awareness in preventing Dengue. To stay safe from dengue, people must keep their home yards, drains, and surrounding areas of institutions and residences clean. They also stressed the importance of ensuring that no stagnant water remains in or around houses.

They added that clearing bushes and destroying mosquito breeding grounds can significantly reduce the risk of dengue.

The speakers called on everyone to come forward collectively to build a dengue-free Bangladesh through greater awareness and community participation.
