The 49th edition of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2024 began last Thursday (September 5) with David Gordon Green’s film “Nutcrackers” as the opening feature.

However, this year’s festival is particularly noteworthy for Bangladeshi film enthusiasts, as the Bangladeshi film ‘Saba’ has been selected for the Discovery Program.

Bangladeshi filmmaker Maksud Hossain’s debut directorial feature ‘Saba’ had its premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival on September 7.

The director, along with the film’s leads Mehazabien Chowdhury and Mostafa Monwar attended the show with a houseful audience.

‘Saba’ will also screen on September 14 at Tiff and is set to be features at the Busan International Film Festival, which will take place from October 2-11.

The 10-day extravaganza is expected to witness a plenty of star including Ben Stiller, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Salma Hayek, Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman.
