Master mason Mohammad Abdur Rahim (40) has made fishing in the Reju Canal of Naikhongchari as his everyday morning ritual.
Rahim regularly spends a significant amount of time – from dawn until noon – on fishing as it is his interest.
He catches various fish, including tangra fish, white datina (goldsilk seabream), batasi, and other freshwater species, weighing between 1 and 1.5 kg daily.
He usually sells the remaining fish at Court Bazar after keeping some for his family’s consumption.
He claims that larger fish can price up to Tk1,000 per kg, whereas smaller fish only bring in between Tk400 and Tk500.
