Yashna Ikter, a student from Cox’s Bazar, has been selected to participate in the 2026 Summer Exchange Programme at the University of Tokyo, one of Japan’s most prestigious higher education institutions.
The programme, scheduled for July and August, will bring together students from different countries for academic and cultural exchange.
Yashna is currently studying Environmental Science at the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chattogram. Her family and well-wishers are hailing her selection as a significant milestone in her academic journey.
In a post on its official social media platform, AUW announced that 12 of its students had been selected for the 2026 UTokyo Summer Exchange Programme.
The university congratulated the students on earning the opportunity through hard work and said it was proud of their achievement.
According to the post, the selected students will spend the summer studying at the University of Tokyo, an experience expected to make a meaningful contribution to their academic and professional development.
Yashna is the granddaughter of the late Nurul Alam, a prominent social worker, political figure and multiple-term chairman of North Lakshyarchar union in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
Her father, Ikteruddin Md Bayzid, works for the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, while her mother holds a law degree.
Yashna began her education at BIAM Model School before studying at Baharchhara International School. She later attended Cox’s Bazar Government Girls’ High School from classes VI to X, where she obtained a Golden GPA-5 in the Secondary School Certificate examination. She also secured a GPA-5 in the Higher Secondary Certificate examination from Cox’s Bazar Government College.
Her parents have sought prayers from relatives, friends, and well-wishers for her continued success and future contributions to the country and society.
