A low-pressure system has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and northern Odisha, raising the possibility of squally weather over the sea ports, the north Bay and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The system may move west-northwestwards, according to the weather forecast.
As a result, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal No. 3.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office assistant meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan said the low-pressure system could make the sea and coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar rough.
Fishing boats and trawlers currently operating in the sea have therefore been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice, he said.
