Upon entering Maheshkhali Island, one of the first things that catches the eye is vendor Mohammad Russell’s beautifully arranged display of mishti paan (sweet betel leaf).

Known for his remarkable presentation and warm manner, Russell has made a name for himself among tourists, often stopping by and enjoying his unique creation, mishti paan.

Speaking to Cox’s Bazar Life, he shared the secret behind his popular sweet paan.

“I use a variety of ingredients, including coconut, cherries, apples, dates, sugar drops, sweet cumin, black cumin, coriander, and candied fruits,” he went on saying that these ingredients not only make the paan visually appealing but also enhance its flavor, making it a delightful treat for both locals and the tourists.
