Border Guard Bangladesh’s Ramu Sector handed over a solar panel, a battery, and related equipment to a local community leader in a border area of Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
The handover took place on October 16 in the lower Fatr para area, within the Moronipara Temporary Operating Base (TOB) area of responsibility under Ramu Battalion (30 BGB).
According to a press release issued by BGB, the equipment was handed over on behalf of the Ramu Sector headquarters. The release identified the recipient as a karbari, a traditional community leader in the locality.
The initiative was part of the battalion’s activities in the Bangladesh–Myanmar border region, where it maintains border security in the country’s southernmost areas.
BGB said its personnel continued to perform border duties while also contributing to law and order within the country. The force said its professional conduct had earned appreciation from civilian communities.
The handover was conducted as part of the activities of Ramu Battalion under the Ramu Sector of BGB’s Cox’s Bazar Region.
Lieutenant Colonel Imrul Kayes Mehedi, director and commander of Ramu Battalion (30 BGB), issued the press release on Friday.
The statement did not provide further details on the intended use of the solar panel and battery, the equipment’s value, or the specific arrangements for their operation.
BGB guards Bangladesh’s international borders and conducts a range of activities in border communities alongside its security duties. The latest handover took place in an area under the Moronipara TOB’s responsibility.
The equipment could provide a local source of solar power, although the force’s statement did not specify whether it would be used for household needs, community services, or another purpose.
The handover was announced by the Ramu Sector headquarters on October 16, 2026.
