Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan has urged trainees to become entrepreneurs and create jobs rather than simply seeking employment, as a six-month functional literacy and practical skills training course was launched in the district.
The course, titled “Functional Literacy and Practical Skills Training (Pre-vocational Level)”, is being conducted under a special programme of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education.
The district administration and the District Bureau of Non-Formal Education jointly organised the inauguration at the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday, October 19.
Addressing the event as the chief guest, Mannan said people could create employment opportunities by becoming successful entrepreneurs. The government was placing greater emphasis on technical education to promote self-employment, he added.
He urged participants to complete the training successfully, become self-reliant and develop themselves as entrepreneurs.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam. Assistant District Primary Education Officer Gulshan Akter, Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Rafiqul Islam Khan, teachers and trainees also attended.
A total of 80 trainees are participating in four categories under the six-month programme run by the Cox’s Bazar Bureau of Non-Formal Education.
The initiative aims to improve participants’ practical skills and expand access to pre-vocational education. Officials expect the training to help develop a skilled workforce and create opportunities for further employment-oriented learning.
