A course on functional literacy and practical skills training at the pre-vocational level has been launched in Cox’s Bazar under a special programme of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education.
The deputy commissioner’s office formally inaugurated the course in the conference room on Monday, October 19. The programme was jointly organised by the district administration and the District Bureau of Non-Formal Education in Cox’s Bazar.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Mannan attended the event as the chief guest.
In his speech, he said people could create employment opportunities for themselves by becoming successful entrepreneurs rather than merely seeking jobs.
He said the government was placing greater emphasis on technical education to promote self-employment and urged participants to complete the training successfully, become self-reliant, and develop themselves as entrepreneurs.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam. Assistant District Primary Education Officer Gulshan Akter, Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Rafiqul Islam Khan, teachers and trainees also attended.
A total of 80 trainees are participating in the six-month programme under the Cox’s Bazar Bureau of Non-Formal Education, across four training categories.
The initiative aims to improve participants’ functional literacy and practical skills while expanding access to pre-vocational education.
Officials expect the training to help develop a skilled workforce and create opportunities for participants to pursue employment-oriented education in the future.
