The Rapid Action Battalion-15 (RAB-15) arrested a prime accused in the murder case of Rohingya leader Master Muhib Ullah from the Cox’s Bazar airport area on Saturday night.
The arrested man, Khairul Amin, also known as Boli Amin, 45, is one of the prominent accused named in the charge sheet of the murder case involving the killing of Muhib Ullah at the Kutupalong Lombashia Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.
RAB-15 Assistant Director AM Faruk confirmed the arrest.
Faruk said a RAB team conducted a drive following a tip-off that a fugitive accused in several cases, including drug trafficking, robbery and sensational murders, was staying in the Cox’s Bazar airport area.
The team arrested Amin during the operation and recovered a smartphone and a passport from his possession, he said.
According to the RAB official, Amin is a Myanmar national and a known criminal in Rohingya camps and border areas.
He faces at least 15 cases filed with police stations in Ukhiya, Teknaf and Naikhongchhari over allegations of murder, arms possession, drug trafficking, human trafficking and attacks on police, Faruk said.
He added that courts had issued three arrest warrants against Amin in cases involving drugs and robbery.
Amin is the son of Nur Hossain, also known as Mostafizur, and a resident of block D/4 of Kutupalong Rohingya Camp-1 East under Rajapalong union in Ukhiya.
The arrested man, along with the seized evidence, was handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, the RAB official said.
