Due to the low tide, the Bakkhali River has become a vast char, with sand and silt accumulating near its estuary.

Consequently, the passenger crossing at jetty no 6 in Maheshkhali was forced to close, leaving passengers stuck.

Local boat drivers said this occurs yearly at the start of winter when chars (sandbanks) appear near the jetties.

Passengers on this route seek alternative crossing locations along the Bakkhali River, as rising sandbanks make passage more difficult.

This seasonal disruption continues to cause inconvenience throughout the winter months.
