A group of 85 Bangladeshis who had been imprisoned in various jails across Myanmar returned home after serving their sentences.
They arrived at the BIWTA Ghat in Nuniarchara, Cox’s Bazar, on Sunday (September 29) around 9:00 am through a privately owned Bangladeshi ship ‘Karnaphuli Tug-1’.
Earlier that morning, at around 8:30 am, 123 Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGP) and army personnel – who had fled to Bangladesh due to unrest in Myanmar’s Rakhine state – were also brought to the same ghat.
They are set to be sent back to Myanmar following an extradition process.
Yesterday (September 28), Cox’s Bazar District Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed the arrangements for Cox’s Bazar Life. He explained that the group of Myanmar nationals consists of 8 military personnel and 115 BGP officers.
