Cox’s Bazar observed World Teachers’ Day with a rally and discussion meeting under the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
The celebrations occurred on Saturday morning, starting with a vibrant rally from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and paraded through the city’s main roads.
The event concluded in a discussion meeting at the Shahid ATM Zafar Alam conference room, where Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended as the chief guest.
In his speech, he emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of teachers.
He encouraged teachers to focus on research-based learning to equip the next generation with enhanced skills and abilities.
The meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Vibhishan Kanti Das, featured speeches from other notable guests, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Yamin Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmul Sakib Khan, District Education Officer Md Nashir Uddin, and District Primary Education Officer Shahidul Azam.
Heads of various educational institutions, teachers, and government officials were also present.
Speakers at the event discussed the importance of implementing a universal education policy that is inclusive and free of discrimination, fostering an equitable education system for all.
