Chief Advisor of the interim government Nobel Laurate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to make his first foreign visit on September 3, heading to Thailand to attend the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.
According to media reports citing foreign ministry officials, recently appointed Ambassador to Thailand Fayyaz Murshed Kazi has been urgently dispatched to Bangkok in preparation.
The 6th BIMSTEC Summit, held from September 2-4, will see participation from top leaders of the seven-member bloc, including India.
Dr Yunus will address the summit on September 4 and may meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the event.
He is expected to return on September 5.
