Sports Desk: Nazmul Hassan Papon, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has decided to step down from his position after 12 years.
His decision was finalized during an online board meeting on Wednesday night, prompted by recent developments in the country’s cricket and political landscape.
A director of the BCB told media that former national team captain and former chief selector Faruque Ahmed is going to be the new board president.
Papon, who first took charge as BCB President in 2012 as government nominated, was elected in 2013 and served three terms. His tenure was set to end in October next year, but he chose to step down early.
Along with Papon’s resignation, significant changes are expected in other key positions within the BCB.
