The indomitable girls in red and green have made history once again by clinching their second SAFF Women’s Championship title, defeating hosts Nepal 2-1. 

Among these champions is Shahida Akhter Ripa, a proud daughter of Ukhiya, whose remarkable journey has become a source of inspiration for her hometown.

Since Ripa’s return, an air of celebration has enveloped her village in Sonai Chhari, Jalia Palong Union. 

Crowds of people from nearby areas have been flocking to meet her every morning and evening, eager to catch a glimpse of their local hero.

Yesterday, the residents of her home village honored Ripa with a grand reception. Prominent figures such as Advocate Shah Amin Chowdhury, Shamsul Alam Sohag, football enthusiasts, youths, students, and people from various walks of life attended the event.

In her speech, Shahida Akhter Ripa reminisced about her journey from a small village to the national women’s football team, sharing heartfelt memories and encouraging the younger generation to dream big.
