With the slogan “Seeking Safety and Dignity, We Build the Nation Abroad,” a migration dialogue and the inauguration of an Expatriate Information Service Center were held in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar.
The Films for Peace Foundation organized the event on Saturday afternoon (November 23) at the Peace Center in Bashghata, with financial support from The Asia Foundation and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Parvez Siddique, Executive Director of the Films for Peace Foundation, joined the event’s chief guest, Mohammad Arfan Uddin, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Chakaria, who presided over the program. Special guests included a senior lawyer of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and the President of the Chakaria-Pekua Association Dhaka, Md. Fakhruddin, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Tajul Islam of Chakaria Police Station, Agricultural Officer Anisuzzaman Biplob, and prominent media professionals from Cox’s Bazar.
Speakers at the event highlighted the critical role of media in safeguarding the rights of migrant workers and raising awareness.
Experts described the initiative as timely and essential for ensuring the safety of migrant workers. Media professionals attending the event pledged to strengthen their advocacy for expatriates’ rights.
