Karim Khan, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), visited the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, as part of his ongoing efforts to address the alleged atrocities committed against the Rohingya community in Myanmar.
Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Additional Secretary), confirmed his arrival at Camp 1 around 9:30 AM today (November 26).
The chief prosecutor engaged with Rohingya refugees regarding the 2017 genocide.
During his trip, he also has plans to visit Camp 4 and other camps and later in the afternoon, at 4 PM, Khan is expected to hold a meeting with officials at the Cox’s Bazar Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner’s office to discuss comprehensive issues surrounding the Rohingya refugees.
Earlier, Khan arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning and flew to Cox’s Bazar in a special flight to commence his field visit. This marks his third visit to Bangladesh as the ICC’s Chief Prosecutor.
