A memorial ceremony was held in Cox’s Bazar to honor those injured and martyred during the student-led anti-discrimination uprising in July and August.
The event, organized by the district administration, took place on Wednesday in the Public Library auditorium.
The families of each martyr received financial aid of Tk200,000 during the ceremony, while the injured received Tk20,000.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin presided over the event, assuring attendees of comprehensive support for the victims’ families and adequate medical care for the injured.
He also emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring justice and assistance for the affected families.
Police Superintendent Muhammad Rahmat Ullah, Captain Tafsir of the Army, student coordinator Shahidul Wahid Shahid, Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman, and leaders from various political parties and student organizations attended the ceremony.
All Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs), members of the anti-discrimination student movement, and family members of the four martyrs and 12 injured victims from across the district were also present. The event concluded with prayers for the departed souls.
