The Chakaria Upazila Administration organized an event in Chakaria Upazila, in Cox’s Bazar District, on December 18 to celebrate International Migrants Day and National Expatriate Day. The Asia Foundation, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the Coalition for Fairer Labor Migration—Perry Project supported the event.
The event featured a discussion where the chief guest, Md. Atikur Rahman, the Upazila Executive Officer of Chakaria, delivered a speech highlighting the contributions of migrants and the potential created through the involvement of expatriates in the country’s development.
The gathering included officials from the Upazila Administration, civil society representatives, and notable personalities, as well as Riad Mahmud, the field officer from Films for Peace in the region.
This event aimed to raise awareness among the people of Chakaria about migration issues and the significant contributions made by expatriates, inspiring a greater sense of recognition and appreciation for their role in the nation’s progress.
