Farmers in Daria Nagar, Cox’s Bazar, are optimistic about a successful winter tomato harvest this season.

They shared that they don’t need to take their produce to markets, as vegetable traders usually purchase tomatoes directly from the fields.

Once fully ripe, the tomatoes are expected to fetch profitable returns this year.

Tomatoes can be cultivated in almost any soil, but sandy loam is particularly suitable, according to the farmers.

Though tomatoes are a winter crop, their nutritional value and versatile uses ensure year-round demand.

Summer production remains low, causing tomatoes to be beyond the average consumer’s reach during the warmer months, while winter sees a surplus yield.
