Green mangoes are typically seen in the markets at the end of Chaitra or the beginning of summer. However, this year, vendors have started selling them as early as Magh at various points along the Cox’s Bazar sea beach.

Despite being an off-season fruit, green mangoes are sold at high prices. Vendors can be seen carrying baskets filled with green mangoes, offering them as spicy, seasoned slices to tourists. The price per piece varies, with small-sized mangoes selling for Tk 30-40 and larger ones reaching up to Tk 100.

According to sources, local mango varieties have yet to appear in Cox’s Bazar, but mangoes are already available in Teknaf markets. Vendors are purchasing them from Teknaf and selling them to tourists visiting the beach.
