Cox’s Bazar observed National Local Government Day with a rally and discussion session to reinforce local governance’s role in public service delivery.
On Tuesday morning, the event commenced with a rally jointly organized by the District Administration, District Council, and Municipality. The rally started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises and paraded through the town’s main roads.
Following the rally, a discussion session was held at the Shaheed ATM Jafar Alam Conference Room in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin presiding over the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of delivering essential services efficiently at the district, upazila, and union levels, urging all relevant departments to fulfil their responsibilities diligently.
Key speakers included Mohammad Al Maruf, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, and Romen Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Administrator. Officials from various government departments, municipal employees, and student representatives were also at the event.
