During the holy month of Ramadan, fruits become a staple in Iftar meals, driving up demand for fresh, juicy produce across the country. Cox’s Bazar is no exception, with markets brimming with a vibrant assortment of seasonal fruits. From roadside vendors to established shops, the entire city seems immersed in a fruit frenzy.

Despite an ample supply, customers report that fruit prices remain high, leaving many buyers frustrated.

A visit to Cox’s Bazar’s wholesale and retail markets reveals an impressive variety of fruits. Shoppers are flocking to stores daily to purchase seasonal favorites, leading to brisk trade. Key fruit hubs like Ghonar Chattola Mor and Bazarghata are witnessing heavy foot traffic, with wholesalers supplying vendors who then set up their stalls along sidewalks and roadsides.

Among the most in-demand fruits are guava, pineapple, banana, papaya, watermelon, pomegranate, wood apple, and dates. Additionally, apples, oranges, and other imported fruits are also seeing strong sales.

According to traders, the demand for both local and imported fruits has surged, but they are compelled to sell at higher prices due to increased procurement costs.
