As iftar tables fill up with delicious fried snacks, the demand for fresh fruits—both local and imported—has also risen significantly. Watermelon has become a sought-after choice this Ramadan.

Many prefer to prepare refreshing watermelon juice to break their fast. Meanwhile, with winter fading and temperatures gradually rising, the supply of watermelon has increased in the markets of Cox’s Bazar.

Over the past week, fresh watermelons have been arriving in full swing. In various retail markets across Cox’s Bazar, the fruit sells for Tk 80 to Tk 90 per kilogram. Market visits reveal that watermelon stalls are drawing a larger crowd—some shoppers are bargaining and making purchases, while others are walking away after hearing the prices.
