Cox’s Bazar District Administration and the Department of Women Affairs jointly organized a discussion on International Women’s Day under the theme “Rights, Equality, Empowerment, and Advancement of Women and Girls.”
The discussion occurred Saturday morning at the Shaheed ATM Jafar Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, highlighting the day’s significance.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, the event’s chief guest, stated in his speech that Bangladesh has made remarkable strides in ensuring women’s rights and dignity on the global stage. Women excel in various sectors, including the judiciary, administration, education, healthcare, and the armed forces. He also emphasized the growing impact of female entrepreneurs, who are becoming financially self-reliant through their business ventures.
The session was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nizam Uddin Ahmed and attended by notable figures such as Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Payar, Women Affairs Deputy Director Subrata Biswas, Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Fahmida Begum, student representative Sahidul Wahid Shahed, BNP District General Secretary Advocate Shamim Ara Swapna, and Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman. Several women entrepreneurs and ‘Joyeeta’ awardees also shared their insights.
Government officials, political leaders, women entrepreneurs, and student representatives attended the event, where discussions focused on women’s empowerment, adolescent welfare, and the government’s initiatives to ensure gender equality.
