The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has signed an agreement with the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka to ensure sustainable waste management in Cox’s Bazar.
According to a press release from the Japanese Embassy, the agreement was signed on Monday at the embassy in Dhaka. As part of this partnership, Japan will provide USD 1.5 million to enhance waste management initiatives in Cox’s Bazar.
The “Sustainable Solid Waste Management” project aims to improve waste disposal systems for Rohingya refugees and local communities. In addition to promoting better public health, the initiative will create economic opportunities for residents, ensuring long-term benefits for the region.
