Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus made his first official visit to Cox’s Bazar on Friday (March 14), where he engaged in discussions on various critical issues. He arrived alongside UN Secretary-General António Guterres, landing at Cox’s Bazar Airport in the afternoon.
During a meeting organized by the Cox’s Bazar district administration, Dr. Yunus surprised attendees by speaking in the Chattogram dialect. “Aar hota hoibalai na aiyyi, onarattun jainot aisside,” he remarked, delighting the audience. He also responded to several questions from young attendees in the local dialect, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.
Later in the evening, Dr. Yunus and UN Secretary-General Guterres joined a ‘Mega Iftar’ with thousands of Rohingya refugees. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yunus expressed his hopes for their safe repatriation, saying, “Allah’r kache doa gori, sammar bar jeno onara nijor barite jaiya Eid gorit paran” (We pray to Allah that you all can return home and celebrate Eid with your families).
At 6:45 PM, the motorcade carrying Dr. Yunus and the UN Secretary-General departed from Ukhiya and returned to Cox’s Bazar Airport.
