All-type internet prices of Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) will decrease by 10%.

This decision was taken at the company’s board meeting yesterday (Saturday). As a result, the company’s costs will dwindle in mobile internet and broadband services, said a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, said the government has been working to minimize the price of the internet.

Several initiatives have been taken to ensure that people get internet at affordable prices, one of which is reducing prices at the wholesale level.

Taiyeb said that this decision will cut the prices of all bandwidths at the international gateway level of the Internet by 10%.

In addition, he said that talks continue to provide DWDM facilities to mobile operators at the backbone level.

The special assistant said that as a result, telecom companies’ transmission costs will dwindle by 39%.

He said discussions have already been held with telecom operators on this issue, and the operators are expected to cut the internet price at the consumer level by up to 10%.

Taiyeb said Bangladesh will be connected to the third submarine cable, South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 6 (SEA-ME-WE 6), by mid-next year.
