The Bangladesh Navy has recovered stolen construction materials worth approximately one crore taka from the Matarbari Coal Power Plant in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar. The operation was carried out on Tuesday evening (April 9) in the Rajghat South Para area of Matarbari.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Navy confirmed that the Matarbari Power Plant is a vital national infrastructure, and reports of recurring thefts had prompted a special operation by the Maheshkhali Navy contingent.
During the raid, officials discovered a locked storage unit containing many stolen construction materials, including angle bars, beam bars, and scrap metal. The estimated value of the recovered items is around one crore taka.
The Navy stated that the seized materials are being handed over to the appropriate authorities in the presence of local police. It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order in Matarbari and other key areas under its jurisdiction through regular security operations.
