Cox’s Bazar Government College ushered in the Bengali New Year 1432 with grandeur and enthusiasm. The celebrations began at 9:30 AM on Pahela Baishakh with the national flag’s hoisting and the national anthem’s rendition, setting a spirited tone for the day. This was followed by the traditional song “Esho He Baishakh,” welcoming the New Year with cultural pride.

At 11:00 AM, students, teachers, officials, and staff participated in a colorful and joyous New Year procession through the campus. Following the rally, traditional Bangladeshi sports competitions were held for students, adding a festive charm to the morning.

A highlight of the day was the cultural program held on the college premises, featuring vibrant student performances. The program was inaugurated with speeches from Principal Professor Md. Solaiman, Vice Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Md. Mofizul Haque, and Acting General Secretary of the College Teachers’ Association, Shiuli Sarkar.

Abul Monsur, convener of the event’s organizing committee and Head of the Political Science Department, also delivered a welcoming address.

Following the cultural performances, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions held to celebrate Pahela Baishakh.

Assistant Professor Md. Jahangir Alam of the History Department and Lecturer Mohammad Hasanul Farhad from the Department of Islamic History and Culture coordinated the overall event. Moin Uddin Rakib, a fourth-year student from the Economics Department, and Asifa Binte Rimu, a first-year student from the Bangla Department, co-hosted the cultural and prize-giving ceremonies.

In the traditional games segment, cockfighting for male students saw Abu Nasher (1st year, Degree program) win first place, followed by Milad Hossain (4th year, History) in second, and Yasir Arafat (11th grade, Humanities) in third place.

For female students, the ball toss into a basket competition awarded first place to Sohana (11th grade, Science), second place to Jharna (12th grade, Science), and third place to Miftahul Jannat Tamanna (12th grade, Business Studies).

Among the departments participating in the vibrant New Year procession, the Bangla Department won first place, the Political Science Department in second, and the Chemistry Department in third.

The festive atmosphere, student enthusiasm, and strong participation from the college community made the Bengali New Year 1432 celebration a memorable event at Cox’s Bazar Government College.
