As places change, so does language. In Bangladesh, regional dialects are unique. The dialect of Chittagong is relatively complex.

Interestingly, there are variations in dialect within different parts of Chittagong. For example, in the Chittagong region, they say “Bhat hai” (meaning “I eat rice”), but in Cox’s Bazar, it becomes “Bhat haiyi.”

Cox’s Bazar has its distinct regional dialect.

The book “Cox’s Bazarer Ancholik Shobdokosh” or “Cox’s Bazar Regional Dictionary” compiles this local dialect’s words and their Bengali meanings.

This book, researched, compiled, and edited by Mohammad Nurul Islam, provides the Bengali meanings and explanations of many words used in the Cox’s Bazar region.
