Art is R Karim’s passion, which he expresses in extraordinary ways. He creates stunning portraits alongside traditional paints and brushes using unconventional materials such as leaves, twigs, wood, charcoal, sand, and even lentils. A member of the Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi’s Maheshkhali branch, Karim grew up in a remote village. While other children spent their time playing, he was captivated by art.
Inspired by the illustrations in his school textbooks, Karim developed his drawing style, even before fully understanding his passion.
Art books fueled his fascination, and since then, he has poured effort and dedication into his craft.
Speaking to Cox’s Bazar Life, Karim said that being confined to a single artistic method doesn’t suit him.
This realization has led him to experiment with diverse mediums, creating artwork on leaves and other natural objects, continually pushing the boundaries of his creative expression.
