Even before the first light of dawn breaks, the struggle for livelihood begins in the fishing community of Darya Nagar in Cox’s Bazar. Nestled along the seashore, the area comes alive every morning as fishermen immerse themselves in their daily routines.

Some prepare their boats, others carefully arrange fishing nets, while many make final preparations before heading out to sea.

Local sources say that amid the cold dawn breeze and the rhythmic sound of waves, fishermen set off for the deep sea. After a night of exhausting labor, some return at daybreak with their catch.

This marks the beginning of another round of activity—auctioning the fish, sorting them by size and type, and preparing them for transport to local markets.

The early-morning bustle in Daria Nagar involves not only the fishermen but also their family members. Some assist in washing and drying the fish, while others help prepare the catch for sale.

As a result, the entire neighborhood becomes vibrant during the early hours, filled with constant movement and purposeful activity.

According to locals, this dawn-time energy in the fishing hamlet is a familiar and enduring scene of Cox’s Bazar’s coastal life. Centered around the sea, the hopes, dreams, and livelihoods of the people here begin each day anew with the rising sun.
