Cox’s Bazar witnessed a massive influx of tourists on the third day of Eid. Since Wednesday morning (April 2), large crowds have been seen at the beach’s three main points—Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni. Additionally, tourist hotspots like Inani, Patuartek, and Himchari have experienced a significant surge in visitors.
Special measures have been implemented to ensure the safety and security of the tourists. The additional DIG of Tourist Police, Apel Mahmud, stated, “Tourist Police, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, is actively working to provide security and services to visitors.”
Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed that multiple mobile courts, led by executive magistrates, are operating to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience for tourists.
According to lifeguards stationed at the beach, nearly 150,000 to 200,000 tourists arrived in Cox’s Bazar on the third day of Eid. Hotel and resort owners reported full occupancy across the city’s accommodations.
Abul Kashem, President of the Cox’s Bazar Residential Hotel Owners’ Association, stated, “The number of tourists is increasing daily during the Eid holidays. More than 500 hotels, motels, guesthouses, and resorts along the city and Marine Drive can accommodate around 170,000 visitors. So far, all rooms have been fully booked.”
Local businesses are optimistic about the continued surge in visitors. Many estimate that an average of 150,000 tourists will arrive each day during the holiday season, which signals a positive boost for Cox’s Bazar’s tourism industry.
