Mohammad Absar, a native of Young Cox’s Bazar, founded Absar Hub, a vibrant music school, in 2020 to bring musical learning to the coastal town. At Absar Hub, students can learn guitar, ukulele, mandolin, and banjo, alongside art lessons.
The school also regularly hosts sessions featuring renowned Bangladeshi singers, guitarists, reciters, and painters, enhancing the students’ creative exposure. Every week, over fifty students attend classes on Fridays and Saturdays.
Speaking to Cox’s Bazar Life, Absar said that Cox’s Bazar is a globally recognized tourist destination, but there aren’t many opportunities for locals to learn something extraordinary here.
“As a local with a deep passion for music, I wanted to create a space for quality entertainment and creative development,” he added.
He is piecing together what’s missing, like mending a broken bridge. The school welcomes everyone as young as four years old; it’s a place where students connect, creating a sense of community.
Many Absar Hub students have formed popular regional bands like “Aunla.”
According to Absar, the school serves as a cultural hub, offering young people a platform to connect with their heritage, country, and culture.
He acknowledges the many challenges, but his gratitude toward supportive parents and others who believe in this mission remains boundless.
“Their encouragement is invaluable,” he says.
