The Bangladesh Navy has distributed winter clothes and provided medical services to impoverished and underprivileged residents of St. Martin’s, the country’s only coral island.
The ISPR said in a statement that Commander BN Fleet managed the daylong humanitarian initiative on Friday (January 10) as part of the Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association’s efforts.
According to the statement, 250 disadvantaged families living near the Forward Base area received winter clothes. Simultaneously, a Navy medical team provided healthcare services at BN Islamic School and College grounds. During the daylong campaign, people of all ages, including children, women, and men, received free medical check-ups and medicine.
The press release further stated that the Bangladesh Navy has regularly conducted such initiatives to ensure healthcare and extend support to the local community of St. Martin’s Island. The Navy pledged to continue these activities in the future.
