Bangladeshi youth climate activists took to the streets again today, demanding the swift revision of the Integrated Energy & Power Master Plan (IEPMP).

They called for an end to fossil fuel financing and urged accelerating investment in renewable energy.

YouthNet for Climate Justice and YASID organized this event ahead of the COP-29 summit on Friday (September 20) at the Central Shaheed Minar in Cox’s Bazar.

The youth also called on the global community to increase the amount of climate financing.

The IEPMP’s current state, which prioritizes unproven and expensive technologies and impedes renewable energy development, has drawn intense criticism from young activists.

They claim the plan does not align with the nation’s climate goals. Slogans and placards at the rally reiterated the need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and swiftly move towards a new energy policy.
