The Bidyananda Foundation has introduced an innovative “Plastic Exchange Market” in Cox’s Bazar to reduce plastic pollution. District Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin inaugurated the event this morning, which the Cox’s Bazar District Administration and Bidyananda Foundation jointly organized.
On its opening day, the initiative set up two “Plastic Exchange Stores” at Sugandha Point and Sea-Gull Point, offering tourists the opportunity to exchange single-use plastic bottles for guaranteed gifts.
Volunteers from the Bidyananda Foundation explained that the initiative aims to raise awareness about reducing plastic usage. Additionally, over five hundred families in the area receive essential goods through this campaign, providing relief amid rising prices and reinforcing efforts to curb plastic consumption.
With support from the district administration, volunteers will repurpose the collected plastic to create a “Plastic Sculpture” in Cox’s Bazar as a symbol of the fight against pollution.
